Occurence of Navratri In A Year

According to the Hindu Panchang, there are a total of four Navratras throughout the year to worship the Adi Shakti Maa Bhagwati, two of which are called Navratri and the other two as Gupta Navratri. Udaya Navaratri in the month of Chaitra or Ashwin is known as Badi Navaratri or Prakrit Navaratri, while Navaratri in the month of Ashada and Magha is known as Gupta Navaratri or Chhoti Navaratri.

Gupta Navaratri is mainly celebrated in places like Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, etc. But amid the ongoing epidemics and increasing infectious cases around the world, you are advised to be careful while performing the rituals.

Why is Gupt Navratri Celebrated?

The festival of Gupta Navaratri is considered important for Tantra Sadhana. It is believed that when Lord Vishnu sleeps during a specific period, the power of the deity or deity begins to weaken, and the dominion of Yama or Varuna begins to increase on the earth. Goddess Durga is worshiped in Gupta Navaratri to get rid of such plagues and terror. It is very beneficial to worship Goddess Durga during these times.

During the Gupta Navaratri, seekers perform occult practices to obtain miraculous powers. Devotees perform special tantric rituals to appease the goddess for fulfillment of specific desires. During this period, reciting Durga Saptashati, Durga Chalisa and Durga Sahastranam is considered very fruitful. Gupta Navaratri is effective not only for acquiring miraculous powers, but also for benefiting from wealth, enemies and children.
