Vasant Panchami Fasting Story

Vasant Panchami Vrat Katha

Panchami of Shukla Paksha of Magh month is celebrated throughout the country on the Vasant Panchami festival. On this day, there is a provision to worship the mother goddess of knowledge, Saraswati.

At the same time, there are many mythological fast stories of Basant Panchami. The story of Saraswati Puja is related to Brahma Vaivrata Purana and Matsya Purana.

According to the folklore, once Brahma Ji came out to walk on the tremor and he saw humans and animals, all appeared dull and calm. Seeing this, Brahma Ji felt something missing and he took water from his kamandal and sprinkled it on the earth.

As soon as the water was sprinkled, a beautiful woman with 4 arms appeared with a veena in one hand, a garland in one, a book in one, and a bridesmaid in one hand. Chaturanan called her as Saraswati, the mother goddess of knowledge.

As per Brahma Ji’s command, Saraswati Ji chimed the strings of the veena, causing all the creatures to speak, the rivers began to sizzle and the wind also caused the music to drown in silence. Since then Saraswati was worshiped as the goddess of wisdom and music.

According to the legend, Goddess Saraswati once saw Lord Krishna and she was fascinated by him. She wanted to have him as a husband, but when Lord Krishna came to know, she said that she was only devoted to Radharani. But to convince Saraswati, he gave a boon that from today on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of Magh, the whole world will worship you as the goddess of learning and knowledge.
