Varalakshmi Vratam – Keep Varalakshmi Fast For Wealth And Prosperity

The fast of Varalakshmi (varalakshmi vratam), one of the 8 forms of Mata Lakshmi (Maa laxmi), occurs on the last Friday of Shravan month. This year, this fast is falling on 31 July. It is said that Varalakshmi vratam (varalakshmi vratam) is kept for the safety of the family and unmarried girls cannot keep this fast.

Varalakshmi was born from Kshira Sagar

It is said that this fast is kept for the eighth form of Goddess Lakshmi. This fast of Laxmi ji gives the fruits of her Ashtalakshmi worship. It is believed that Varalakshmi (varamahalakshmi) originated from the milky ocean, also known as the Kshira Sagar. Maa Lakshmi herself incarnated in this form. Let us tell you that Lord Vishnu is believed to live in the Kshira Sea.

One gets happiness and prosperity from Varalakshmi fast

By worshiping Varalakshmi (varamahalakshmi) in the form of Maa Lakshmi, a person gets happiness, prosperity and wealth. Varalakshmi fast and worship is dedicated to Maa Lakshmi. It is believed that on this day, whatever married woman worships Maa Lakshmi with complete law , the grace of the mother definitely pours on that woman and her family and there is never a shortage of money in her life. Apart from this, all the obstacles are removed from the life of the woman who performs this fast. Such as getting rid of financial troubles, debt etc.

Method of observing Varalakshmi fast

This fast starts early in the morning after taking bath. On this day, get up in the morning and clean the house first and then take a bath. Then make a Chowk or Rangoli at the place of worship of the house. Bathe the idol of Goddess Lakshmi with Ganges water, then decorate the idol with new clothes, jewelry and kumkum. After this, keep the idol of Ganesha and Mata Lakshmi in the east direction.

After filling rice with them, install the Kalash and along with Lakshmi ji, apply Tilak on the Kalash with sandalwood. Then light the lamp and incense. Put a new red cloth and rice, kheer or white sweets in the puja plate. After this, read the story of Varalakshmi Vrat. Pooja ends after this legend. Later distribute Prasad to women.

Story of Varalakshmi Vrat

According to Hindu beliefs, Lord Shankar once told Mata Parvati about the importance of Varalakshmi fast. It is said that Magadha used to be a city named Kundi in the country, which was made of gold. A woman lived in this town, who looked after her family like a model wife. Along with taking care of the family, Charumati also worshiped mother Lakshmi, due to which mother Lakshmi was very happy with Charumati.

Once upon a time, when Goddess Lakshmi appeared in a dream to Charumati and asked her to keep Varalakshmi fast. Chaumati also told the women of her neighborhood about this dream. Hearing the dream of Charumati, the women living in the neighborhood also performed Shravan Mass.

I observed Varalakshmi fast on Friday before Purnamasi. All the women, including Charumati, worshiped as per the method laid down by Goddess Lakshmi and then circled the Kalash. As soon as the revision was completed, their bodies were decorated with various gold ornaments. Their houses also became of gold and vehicles like cows, horses, elephants etc. came to their house.

All the women who fasted on this, praised Charumati, because of that, everyone got the privilege of fasting, so that everyone got happiness and prosperity. Later all the residents of the city got the same prosperity by keeping this varalaxmi (varamahalakshmi) fast.
