Bakrid / Eid al-Adha, which is also popular as a festival of sacrifice, is one of the major Islamic festivals.

The festival of Eid al-Adha reminds the devotee of devotion and willingness to surrender to Allah. This day marks Prophet Ibrahim’s immense belief towards Allah. On this day, Allah sent Gabriel to keep a goat for the sacrifice of Ibrahim’s son.
Therefore, on this day, people sacrifice a goat to commemorate this event. Goats are purposefully divided into three parts. A portion goes to the poor and needy people who are unable to afford the goat. The second part of the goat goes to dear friends and family and the third and last part is served to the members of their family.
Reason for celebration of Eid al-Adha
The mythology behind the celebration of Eid al-Adha is popular among people of most religions and communities.
The legend of the festival is popular in Judaism as Aqeedah and is found in the Torah which is the first book of Prophet Hazrat Musa.
These stories mention, Prophet Ibrahim is compelled to obey all the commandments of Allah. Allah asks Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his dearest thing as a sacrifice to his thirteen-year-old son Ismail.
On this, Ibrahim prepares himself to fulfill Allah and His will. Meanwhile, while preparing for the sacrifice, Satan tempts him, but Ibrahim throws pebbles at Satan to make him flee. Therefore, to commemorate this work of Ibrahim, on this day, people throw stones at symbolic pillars during the Hajj rites and the stoning of the devil.
At the last moment, when Abraham attempted to cut Ismail’s throat, he found his son out of harm’s way. Also, as a replacement for his son, a goat was sacrificed.
This entire incident makes Ibrahim pass the test of Allah.

This festival is very unique and special about food and drink. For ceremonies, people from many places cook mouth watering food. However, Chicken Biryani and Sevai are the two most important Bakar Eid dishes. In general, there are two dishes on the table for every Muslim family celebrating Eid al-Adha.
