It is a long time ago that almost at the beginning of Dwapar, there used to be a city named Mahishmati in which there was the rule of the very righteous-righteous king Mahijit.
The king used to love his subjects like a son, he would have a good knowledge of their amenities, justice, respect of Brahmins and charity. Everything was going well, but even after several years of marriage, he had no child of his own, this often bothered King Mahijit.
As the age passed, the king’s concern began to get bigger. Then one day he called the knowledgeable Brahmins, priests and priests in the court, the people were also present. In front of everyone, the king said politely, O knowledge, people, The Brahmin gods I have held my senses ever since today, even when I have taken over the reins of the state. I have not done any act of wrongdoing.
The whole idea of righteousness, charity, virtue, justice, has been me. It is also true that my subjects love me like a son, but the law has kept me childless due to which sins I have not understood. The people were already saddened by the fact that the king did not have children, but she became more moved by the king’s manifestation of his grief in this way.
A stream of tears began to flow from everyone’s eyes. The king requested the learned Brahmins priests to show some way how they could get the happiness of children.
The king was so devout that he could not see any sin in him, so he could not understand what to tell him. Then someone said that for this we should take the help of Muni Lomesh. At the same time, they are the best sages, they are the helpers of everyone in solving the deep clans of Sanatan Dharma. After only one epoch from his tapobal, only one of his follicles falls.
Then what was there, everyone went and bowed to Muni Lomesh Now the sages are interiors, yet they have asked that what is the problem, I will help you, my aim is benevolence. All the scholarly subjects expressed their anguish as to what kind of crisis this godly king is and how they can overcome it. The sage closed his eyes for a moment and knew everything next. Then he said that in his previous life the king was a very poor businessman, he collected wealth by deceit and sin,
Unknownly, he became king by completing Ekadashi fast and he had to become childless to stop the thirsty cow from drinking water. Knowing this, everyone was very unhappy and said, “Muni, the way of atonement for every sin is known to the sage who is like you, tell us some way too that our king’s crisis will be overcome.
” Then he said that there is a way, if all the people together keep fast on Shravan Shukla Ekadashi which is also Putrada Ekadashi and keep awakening in the night, after passing it to the king the next day, then it can become a matter. Everyone returned with the blessing of Muni.
Shortly after, the day of Shravan Shukla Ekadashi came, everyone fasted according to the law and gave the virtue of the fast to the king according to the Muni. Soon the queen turned to expectation and received a stunning son Ratna.
It is believed that by listening to and knowing Shravan Shukla Ekadashi Mahatmya, one gets freedom from all sins. Physical comforts and facilities are available in Ihaloka, but the world also improves.

Shravan Shukla Ekadashi fasting method
Ekadashi fasting is done from the Dashami date itself. On the day of Dashami, fasting should be taken as a sattvic diet. Brahmacharya should be followed. On the day of Ekadashi, get up early in the morning and take a pledge to clean the bath and take a vow to worship Lord Balnu ‘s Gopal form.
This story should be read, heard. Awakening should be done while doing Bhajan Kirtan at night. Thereafter worship should be performed with the sunrise of the day of Dwadashi.
